I just went over to simpsonizeme.com.   Here’s what I came up with…

I want to start by saying that I do not subscribe to a cable or satellite TV service.  I live in one of the 15 million households in the US that gets their TV service over the air.  I also happen to own an analog television set.
Since Congress has forced a switch to Digital Television service there has been a lot of talk about HDTV and the many channels you can receive for free from broadcasters.  Since I do not want to pay for television and have an analog set I’ve been waiting for years to find an external tuner that I can get these digital signals on my analog TV.  Many visits to many electronic stores have been fruitless.

Now that talk about the shut down date for analog TV service has been in the news it seems that some of you are finally getting around to making such a device.  This is according to the Federal Communications Commission’s website (link).  Why has it taken so long for just the news of this to come along?  And why have I not been able to easily find information on when these tuners will be available?

I do not need to or want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new television set when mine works just fine after over a decade of service.  I am not interested in getting “the clearest picture on the planet”.  All I want is the ability get the content to my home.  And I am willing to pay for it.

I am somewhat sure that I am not alone in asking these fairly simple questions.  Although I also realize that I am in the minority when it comes to the means how I get my TV service.

I will be the first in line when the digital to analog converter boxes are available.  Can you at the very least provide a date when these will be available?
