Be careful what you ask for…the FCC’s period for comments on net neutrality ended yesterday.  Many filings happened at the last minute which helped the total come to 27,000 comments.  Some comments were threatening, some down right nasty, and others mentioning the end of the world.

It seems that everyone has something to say when it comes to net neutrality.  As usual big players had a hand in the comments.  In this case Public Knowledge, Hands Off the Internet, and others chimed in.  What is surprising is the number of individuals who commented.  Some Senators have also written in.  Senators Dorgan and Snowe, who co-wrote the Net Neutrality Bill, commented to the FCC yesterday.
The Senators echoed the view of most of the comments: The idea that the internet should stay neutral and not give big business a step ahead of everyone else when getting data online.  “Some believe the market will take care of competition and ensure that those who own the broadband networks won’t discriminate,” they write in the filing, but add that this “cannot be so when at best consumers have a choice of two providers.”

Although it’s not entirely clear what the FCC has to do with Net Neutrality it is good to see that comments are being sought and so many have come in.
