Why Google would by Feedburner
To lay Google’s cards on the table: They are an advertising company. They want to track where you go, what you surf for (online), what you view (youtube), and target those habits with advertising.
Google has yet to jump into is the RSS market. Why would they want to do that? So they can throw advertising on it and track what RSS content people are viewing.
You pair that with Feedburner, a company ripe for the picking, and you have an online rumor. Feedburner offers users the ability to track their own RSS feeds. You can see how many people subscribe to your feed, what software/OS they use to get your feed, what IP address they are from, among other things. Why would you not want this data?
That is why Google would by Feedburner. Makes perfect (ad)sense.
