Windows Vista DRM cracked already?

One of the things Microsoft is proud of with their new operating system, Vista. One of the things they are proud of is the digital rights management (DRM) of the new OS.

Vista was released at midnight today and alredy their is a possible crack to the DRM in it. An enterprising young gentleman named Alex Ionescu is claiming he was able to bypass Vista’s Protected Media Path DRM. That DRM prevents you from enjoying HD material on non-HD outputs (like VGA monitors or older HDMI-TVs). The process was simple (but not release yet). Alex didn’t load any unsigned drivers. So when the HD media was getting played on the computer Vista couldn’t see if there was a digital (using DRM) or analog (not allowed by DRM) component hooked into the PC. So it decided to play it anyway.

And just think, Vista is not even 6 hours old.
