Zune can’t get any help.
As if the jokes from late-night television hosts about it weren’t enough…a large number of sales people at box stores don’t even know they sell the Zune.
Not only that, but some of the sales people who know about it say it’s too heavy or steer customers to the iPod. As a matter of fact, 75% recommended the iPod with 8% recommending the Zune.
This lack of awareness goes beyond the 40 electronic box stores surveyed. It seems Microsoft isn’t pushing the Zune to the mainstream. Unlike the iPod whose advertising was everywhere (ala silhouette ads) the Zune is staying mostly using online venues to sell their product.
Has Microsoft missed the boat? Is there something up their sleeve? Do they even care about the Zune now that the XBox 360 is selling well? We’ll have to wait and see.
