I was out a great Italian restaurant the other day and asked for a glass of merlot. This house pour wine was really good. So good that I decided to pick up an Italian wine, something I’ve never done. I decided on the Dantello Merlot circa 2004.
I was surprised when I first took a sip of it last night. It seemed as if there was olive oil in the wine. I’ve had straight olive oil, so I know what it tastes like The striking taste did not even have the dry taste like I’ve had with some wines, but a strange mix that I’d have to get used to over the next couple of days.
I will add comments over the next few days to see if my tastes for this wine has changed.

Tonight I tried this vino with a little beef taco action. It seemed a bit better, but still not up to par. The “olive oil” taste is going away…but I’d still rate it 2/5.
