Another Vista glitch could save you hundreds
It appears that Microsoft’s Windows Vista still needs to work on some product checks. One can purchase an upgrade version of Vista (hundreds of dollars less than stand alone) and install if on a PC without Windows 2000 or XP. This may not be illegal, but it is certainly embarrassing to a company who prides Vista as a secure product.
OK here it is:
- Purchase an upgrade version of Vista.
- Boot to DVD on a “clean” PC (no OS)
- Install as normal until you get to the liscense key screen.
- Hit next while leaving the key feilds blank. You will now be told you have a 30 day trial version of Vista.
- Reboot to DVD and perform another install.
- Now enter in key.
- Enjoy.
The system thinks it’s performed an upgrade when all it did was upgrade itself.
With all of that said, who wants to run Vista?
