AOL releases AIM Lite…or LAIM
For all of you fans of AOL’s Instant Messenger (or people forced to use it) there is a salvation. AOL is releasing, in beta a new stripped down version of it’s software. They are calling it AIM Lite. They are also calling it “LIAM” on its site, no joke. This new version won’t have any ads, won’t bog down system resources, no sounds, no AIM Today, among many others.
This may be in response to other software makers developing software that uses AOL’s messaging servers, just not using AIM. People are using those programs so this way they do not have to use the AIM software, and all of it’s “features”.
Feel free to download it, but it is in beta…so no guarantees.
